Our platform and 19 of our apps
make the capital of Ukraine smart.

Kiev City Administration

Smart parking, measuring the air quality and monitoring the pipe pressure in buildings. These are only 3 of the 19 applications with which the city government of Kiev wants to make the city smart to make the lives of the inhabitants better, safer and more comfortable. We provided the platform behind it and the 19 apps that will soon be connected to 20,000 sensors.

Initiative to Develop

In 2015 and 2016, Kyiv Smart City brought together city authorities, businesses and activists to develop smart urban infrastructure with a focus on open data and transparent city governance. The result: an open living lab for universities and developers where innovation is central.

WMW helps win tender

Based on the data collected by Kyiv Smart City, Kiev launched a tender to begin construction of the smart city. Actility, provider of connectivity solutions for IoT, won that tender with WMW as the application and platform layer. We have already installed our platform locally and have activated 19 apps in Kiev. We will be connecting them to up to 20,000 sensor devices.

How Actility won the tender? Partially because of our 3 strengths:

1.

THE READY-TO-USE APPS FROM OUR CATALOG OF MORE THAN 100 APPS

2.

THE FLEXIBILITY OF THE "FRAMEWORK APPROACH" THAT WE HANDLE

3.

OUR LIST OF ALREADY INTEGRATED SENSORS, TESTED AND APPROVED BY OUR CUSTOMERS

Way open to AI and machine learning

The platform also includes an API that allows other companies, universities and other living lab enthusiasts to work with the data and develop their own applications and apps. We are already looking forward to the AI and machine learning projects that could emerge there.

WMW platform: also ready for legacy- systems and new sensors

Various system integrators now supply the sensors for all the running city projects. Actility provided the ThingPark Network server that connects everything together. Kyiv Smart City opted for the connectivity of LoRaWAN with its wide ecosystem of sensor builders. Since we are not bound by connectivity technologies, LoRaWAN is a good start for us. We can also connect legacy-systems and newly connected sensors from other radio technology to our platform (LTE-M, 3G, BLE, ...). For example, Kiev can later also link hardware to us, that was already installed prior to this tender, and in this way the city council can monitor the entire city in 1 environment.
